I have been lazy with this "quote of the day" thing. Sort of like how I have been lazy with my riding.
Yesterday, I found a way to fit in a few short rides and for some reason thought I would get all my fitness back at once as a result of amping up the intensity during these rides. It is silly to think that way, and I really do not. There was just something about this weather (really great) and my mood that just made me want to push hard on the pedals.
I rolled out and around here it seems every ride starts with a steep hill (it is a geomorphology thing). When you have limited time and a lot of excitement to be on the pedals, you might just end up with a little suffering and possibly some soreness (if you are a bit out of shape like me).
That brings me to my selection for the quote of the day:
"You can say that climbers suffer the same as the other riders, but they suffer in a different way. You feel the pain, but you're glad to be there."
--Richard Virenque
Make no mistake, I am not climber, and I am not anywhere near his (Richard's) ability, but I know what he is talking about. Yesterday hurt, but I did not want to be anywhere else!
