I gotta tell you, I don't think I've ever ridden with so much pain. Ever. The effects of last night's weights session are in full force today. I hope they are anyway. I really don't what to think of how bad it would feel if it actually got worse.
It hurts to sit down. It hurts to stand up. It hurts to walk.
I probably should have just gone for a nice walk today too. I wanted to ride though. I wanted to ride for two reasons. First, I figured it couldn't hurt to move those muscles around and let them pump out the bad stuff. Usually my sore muscles feel better after a ride. (It didn't work this time.) Second, I wanted to see what sort of dismal wattages I'd produce with my legs screaming in pain.
That second reason was really sort of an experiment. Sort of an inverse of the theory that weightlifting helps you make more watts. I figured if stronger legs mean more watts then weaker legs - legs like mine today - should mean lower wattages.
What happened? Funny you should ask. I just happen to have some wattage stats:
NP 243.27 MMP-1 332.6
IF 0.9 MMP-5 276.1
TSS 134.58 MMP-10 257.2
AP 229.2 MMP-20 250.4
MMP-60 242.3For me, riding with a moderately negative TSB, these are fairly normal numbers - not great, but not bad either.
I really don't think squats, neither the full kind nor the one-legged kind are going to make me a faster rider. They sure are good for my back though.
